What Is SSDI?

SSDI is a federal program that provides benefits to individuals who:

• Have a qualifying disability that prevents them from working
• Have earned enough work credits by paying into Social Security through employment
• Are unable to engage in substantial gainful activity (SGA) due to a long-term condition

Steps to Apply for SSDI in Colorado

1. Confirm Your Eligibility

Before applying, make sure:

• Your condition meets the SSA’s definition of disability
• You’ve worked long enough and recently enough to qualify
• Your condition is expected to last at least 12 months or result in death

2. Gather Your Documentation

Collect all required documents to support your application:
